In 1963 while serving in the Peace Corps in Gondar, Ethiopia I brought six sheep skins to a priest at Debre Birhan church and he made them into two traditional Ethiopian Coptic Bibles. Traditionally a priest would have hand lettered the Bible in Geez.This book measures 7" X 5" X 1" . It has 23 parchment leaves which can be lettered on both sides. To carry itthe priest made a leather shoulder bag into which the Bible neatly slips.
The priest hand tooled two beautiful red dyed covers for the Bibleout of leather stretched over boards.
There is no writing or pictures in this book.
