Beautiful turn-of-the-century oleograph of “Eine Vision” (A Vision), after German painter Baron Cuno von Bodenhausen (1852–1931), depicting the Madonna and Child emerging through luminous clouds.
Produced during the golden age of oleograph printing, the image features pronounced embossed texture designed to reproduce the appearance and dimensional brushwork of the original oil painting. The folds of the Madonna’s veil, surrounding clouds and background all have a remarkably painterly surface.
The approximately 7\" x 9\" piece is housed in an ornate period gilded gesso-over-wood frame. Its solid wood backing, old iron fasteners and heavy twisted hanging wire complete the wonderful antique presentation.
A charming surviving example of late Victorian/Edwardian devotional art—small enough for a gallery wall or intimate display, with beautiful color, texture and genuine period character.
