Antique Warren Silver Plate Co. Quadruple Plate Pickle Castor – 1901–1905
Warren Silver Plate Co. was associated with Wm. A. Rogers Ltd., and the Warren Silver Plate trademark was first used in 1901. The underside of this piece is clearly marked “Warren Silver Plate Co. New York – Quadruple Plate” along with the number 478.
Pickle castors were fashionable Victorian and early-20th-century table accessories used for serving pickles and other relishes. The glass container could be removed from its decorative silver-plated stand, while serving tongs were traditionally held alongside the castor. The company made a limited number of these pickle castors.
Features: Ornate quadruple silver-plated frame with decorative feet and raised detailing; removable patterned glass insert with starburst-style base; fitted silverplate lid with decorative finial; tall swing handle; marked Warren Silver Plate Co., New York; numbered 478; circa 1901–1905.
Condition: Very good antique condition considering its approximately 120-year age. The silverplate displays attractive age-related patina and normal surface wear. The removable glass insert presents beautifully. The original serving tongs are missing and are NOT included. Please examine all photographs carefully as they are an important part of the condition description.
