Antique Vantine’s No. 1262 French Elephant Incense Burner / Censer – 6”
An exceptionally decorative antique Vantine’s incense burner featuring three sculptural elephant-head handles, an ornate domed lid with an animal finial, and an elaborate three-legged pedestal base.
This unusual piece combines Asian-inspired decorative elements with French manufacture and is marked on the underside with the Vantine’s name, model number 1262, and MADE IN FRANCE.
The cylindrical upper section features three beautifully modeled elephant heads with long, downward-curving trunks. A circular openwork vent with a geometric design decorates the front, surrounded by raised ornamental detailing.
The domed lid is decorated with scrolling patterns and topped with a small sculptural animal finial.
The lower section features an elaborate flared rim with repeating decorative motifs, a Greek-key border, and an openwork pedestal supported by three curved legs. A floral ornament decorates the center of the base.
The entire piece has a dark bronze-colored finish / patina giving it a wonderful aged appearance.
The small removable interior incense tray is included and intact.
This incense burner has been in my family for many years.

CONDITION:
Antique condition with age-related wear, surface discoloration, accumulated dust, and patina.
The rim of the upper section is bent, creating an uneven seam where it meets the lower section. Despite this, the upper section still rests on the lower section without difficulty.
The small removable incense tray is present and intact.
The piece has not been restored.
