Antique Pre-Prohibition C.W. Soulas Glass Beer Stein ~ Betz Building, Philadelphia PA======================Up for sale is a fantastic piece of turn-of-the-century Philadelphia tavern history. This is an authentic, antique pre-Prohibition advertising glass beer stein from C.W. Soulas, which operated out of the historic Betz Building located at Broad and S. Penn Square in Philadelphia. The Betz Building was completed in 1892 by prominent local brewer John F. Betz and demolished in 1926, dating this beautiful piece precisely to that golden era of German-American Rathskellers
Lid: Features a pewter rim and hinge mechanism with a stunning white porcelain inset lid. The black gothic-style script reads: \"C.W. Soulas / Betz Building / Philadelphia\" and remains crisp and legible.
Glass Body: The molded crown mark with the \"S & G\" inset on the bottom of the glass identifies it as being manufactured by the Sachsische Glasfabrik (Saxon Glassworks). This specific trademark was first registered in 1897 and remained in use into the early 20th century.The bottom of the mug also features the numbers \"705\" near the lower rim.
