Stunning Pair of Antique 19th / Early 20th Century French Soldier Statues
Up for sale is a magnificent matching pair of antique figurative statues depicting Renaissance duelists or Spanish Conquistadors. These heavy, solid-cast figures are beautifully modeled in dynamic, expressive poses after the famous composition Le Duel by celebrated French sculptor Émile Guillemin.
To maximize lifelike realism, the sculptor designed the figures with contrasting postures. One stands tall at approximately 39 cm, while the other leans back defensively at approximately 38 cm. They make a commanding, visually balanced statement flanking a mantelpiece, bookshelf, or fireplace.
