This impressionistic landscape features a stone arch footbridge over a canal lined with Mediterranean architecture and cypress trees, likely inspired by the historic canals of Venice, California.
Saul Rabino was born in Odessa, Ukraine, studied fine art in Russia and Paris, and emigrated to the United States in 1922. He settled in Los Angeles in 1932, where he became well known for his WPA murals, graphic prints, and regional California landscapes.
