Antique Nicholas Müller N.Y. No 536 Spelter Stag Deer Figurine/Clock Topper For Sale

Offered is an impressive RARE antique Nicholas Müller N.Y. cast-metal stag/deer figurine, marked “N. MÜLLER N.Y. N: 536” on the underside of the base.

This finely modeled male deer features detailed musculature, textured body modeling, a carefully sculpted head and face, long branching antlers, and an organically modeled rocky ground base. The sculpture has an attractive dark bronze-toned aged patina that complements the detailed Victorian-era modeling.

Nicholas Müller was aNew York maker associated with finely detailed cast-metal decorative objects and clock-related pieces. Figural Muller pieces are known in antique and horological collections.

The form and construction of this example are consistent with the type of decorative figural pieces that could be used as a clock topper or as a standalone decorative sculpture. The original specific use of this No. 536 example is not known.

The underside of the base is marked:

“N. MULLER N.Y. No. 536”

The No. 536 appears to be the manufacturer\'s pattern or model number.

This is an antique piece from the 19th century, although the exact manufacturing date of this particular No. 536 example is unknown.

The sculpture displays beautifully with an attractive aged surface and patina consistent with its age.

Please note that there are age-related cracks/delicate areas in the thin cast sections over the internal wire structure of the antlers. The antlers remain attached and the figure is currently stable for display; however, the head and antler area should be handled carefully.

There is also normal age-related surface wear consistent with an antique cast-metal sculpture.
