Antique stereoscope viewer with a large lot of stereoscopic photo cards.
This lot includes:
• Monarch stereoscope viewer with embossed metal front and deer emblem
• 86 original stereoview cards dating to the early 1900s
• Cards from well-known publishers including:
– H.C. White Co. (Perfect Stereograph series)
– Underwood & Underwood
– Educational Series stereoscopic views
Subjects include:
• Historical scenes
• Military and naval images (including Russian Battleship crew)
• Early 1900s city and travel views
• Presidential and crowd scenes
• Hand-tinted stereoview cards
• American and international locations
Many cards are marked 1901–1904 copyright dates and come from educational stereograph sets that were popular in homes and schools during the early 20th century.
The Monarch viewer appears to be from the same era and still has the original wooden frame and lenses.
Condition:
Cards show normal antique wear including edge wear, toning, and age-related marks. Viewer shows wear consistent with age but displays nicely.
