Please see the pics. I want to preface this description by saying I am not an expert on mirrors. The little I know was found in research for this listing for this mirror.
You are offerding on a vintage Mercury Mirror. I discovered it had mercury when I noticed some Mercury drops underneath it one day. Not unusual I guess, as, upon research, seems to be quite common. It was being stored in my garage for a bit. I am guessing the age is somewhere in the 19th century, maybe mid to late 1800\'s. I am not sure. I believe mercury substrate stopped being used in the late 1840\'s? Measurements are approx. 29 1/4\" wide X 35 1/4\" tall. Exposed glass measures slightly less.Anyway, the wood frame is in really good shape. The mirror is in as-is condition. No cleaning was done. The white patches on the lower left side of the mirror is from a sticker or stickers that were on the glass at one time. In the last couple of pictures, you can get a better idea of the reflection of an image. The back of the mirror does show some light places where the mirror backing has come off.
So, as a useful mirror. It is still reflective, but don’t think a woman could put her makeup on with it. .
This mirror was in the house I grew up in, presumably brought to South Texas by my grandparents in the early 1920\'s, who built the house in 1925. I don\'t know any more of the history of the mirror. No odd reflections that I have seen in this Mercury Mirror. It is covered.
