Here is a fabulous antique Wooden display box featuring a product called Madam Stiebel\'s Round Woven Skirt Bands. It would have been on display in a Dressmaker\'s or Tailor\'s shop in the late 1800s up to the early 1900\'s.
The Skirt Band was something to help reinforce the waistband of a woman\'s long skirt. The inside lid of the box features a Shade Card which shows examples of what colors and lengths were available.
The top of the outside lid of the box features a lovely Asian inspired design with birds, palm trees an flowers. The image has faded somewhat but you can still see what it is.
The inside of the box is lined with a green and white patterned paper. The paper shows signs of wear. It appears that at one time there were two dividers in the box, and those dividers wore out the paper. See photos for details.
The box overall is in good antique condition. It has two brass hinges that attach the lid of the box to the bottom of the box. The closure is quite simple and doesn\'t have a latch. The outside of the box was given the appearance of having a black lacquer surface.
A fabulous addition to your antique fashion and Haberdashery display pieces!
It measures about 14.5 x 10.75 x 5.125 inches tall.
