Authentic antique letterpress printer’s wooden type case sourced directly from the contents of an old working print shop.
This large divided wooden case features numerous individual compartments originally used to organize metal letterpress type, characters, punctuation and printer’s symbols. Wonderful aged surface with darkened wood, ink staining, oxidation, dust and decades of genuine print-shop patina.
What makes this particular case especially interesting are the surviving handwritten paper/tape identification labels remaining inside several compartments and along the upper frame. The upper label appears to reference “12 PT” type, providing a wonderful surviving piece of the case’s original working history.
Features a metal carrying/pull handle along the frame and a classic divided printer’s-case configuration.
Today these antique type cases are highly decorative and make fantastic industrial farmhouse wall displays, printer/typography collectibles, shadow boxes, miniature display cases, curio organizers or vintage advertising décor.
This is an authentic used print-shop piece, not a modern reproduction. It remains intentionally uncleaned to preserve its original character and patina.
