An exceptional antique Imperial silver cigarette case by the I. P. Smirnov Silverware Factory, identified by the Cyrillic maker’s mark ИПС.Crafted in solid 84 zolotnik silver, equivalent to approximately .875 fineness, the case weighs approximately 200 grams and measures approximately 10.5 × 8 × 1.5 cm (4.1 × 3.15 × 0.6 in).The exterior is distinguished by a dramatic radiating geometric sunburst design, with deeply defined diagonal ribs converging toward an applied gold accent at the clasp. An oval turquoise-colored cabochon provides a vivid contrast against the silver and gold.The unusually bold geometric decoration gives the piece a remarkably modern appearance for its period.
