Beautiful antique French figural sculpture signed “ROUSSEAU,” depicting a graceful young woman in flowing drapery holding a bird. The sculpture bears a circular “Made in France / Fabriqué en France” origin mark and rests on a wooden plinth.
Measures approximately 18.5\" tall and weighs approximately 4.5 lb including the wooden base.
The figure has a wonderful aged, multi-toned patinated surface with bronze, gold and reddish-brown coloration. The metal is non-magnetic and the figure appears to be hollow cast. The exact metal composition has not been professionally tested, so it is being described simply as patinated metal rather than guaranteed bronze.
Clearly signed ROUSSEAU on the naturalistic base. Displays beautifully, with particularly nice detail in the woman\'s face, flowing dress, pose and bird.
