Antique French Art Nouveau Silver Scallop Shell Pill Box
A French solid-silver pill or patch box shaped likea scallop shell.The hinged lid is decorated with repoussé floral motifs and a central cartouche engraved with the name “Emma”.The interior is gilt (vermeil).The naturalistic shell form and flowing floral decoration reflect the organic design language associated with the Art Nouveau period.Silver boxes of this type were commonly used for pills, cosmetics, or small personal items.
French silver marks on the interior rim.
