Beautiful antique French porcelain cup and matching saucer with elaborate Empire-style decoration.
The set features a rich burgundy/red border, gray classical motifs, white foliate decoration, extensive gold gilt accents, and an ornate gilded scroll handle. Both the cup and saucer are marked in red on the underside “M. Imple de Sèvres.”
The decoration and form have a wonderful early 19th-century French Empire / Napoleonic appearance. Genuine Imperial Sèvres pieces are known with this type of red marking, although this example has not been professionally authenticated, so it is being offered based on the markings and appearance shown in the photographs.
Condition: Antique pre-owned condition with visible age-related wear, including wear/loss to portions of the gold gilt and decoration. No obvious chips or cracks. Please examine all photographs carefully, as they are part of the condition description.
