It is being sold exactly as found to preserve its historical integrity. Any \"imperfections\" truly highlight that it has not been polished, cleaned, or modified. Structurally, the leather shell is showing slight surface cracking. The painted finish is original with scuffs, and shows heavy checking and crazing. The interior liner features the highly desirable early-style suspension, with the original 4-strap leather liner present as remnants. What\'s left of the leather straps shows heavy wear, dryness, and brittle edges consistent with the helmet being 120+ years old. The original ventilation disc is still present in the dome that reads: \"CAIRNS & BRO NEW YORK VENTILATION HAT\".
