Stunning 19\" Antique Ultra Rare ABG 1234 Bisque Shoulder-Head Doll – Closed Mouth, Turned Head, 1880s
Up for sale/sale is an exceptional example of a late 19th-century German bisque doll crafted in the highly desirable and highly scarce ABG 1234 mold doll.
Measuring a substantial 19 inches tall, this cabinet-ready doll boasts all of the premium features that advanced collectors look for.
Head Details:
Mouth: Beautifully painted, delicate closed mouth with a distinct accent line between the lips.
Head: Rare turned head design (molded with a lifelike, subtle tilt) and a classic solid dome crown with a visible center mold line.
Eyes: Original fixed/stationary glass eyes with finely painted multi-stroked feathered eyebrows.
Markings: Incised 7 DEP on the lower edge of the bisque shoulder plate, alongside a historic red/purple factory ink script number \"92\" on the back.
Condition: The bisque head is in excellent condition. It looks great, with beautiful, smooth pale porcelain and no apparent cracks, chips, or hairlines. (Please see photos for close-ups of the porcelain surface).
Body Details:
Construction: Outstanding, premium \"French-style\" kid leather body featuring intricate pin-joints and gussets at the hips and knees, allowing her to sit perfectly.
Feet: Exquisite, highly detailed individually stitched toes—a hallmark of superior quality luxury tailoring from this era.
Arms: Fine bisque lower arms.
Condition Notes:
There is finger loss to the left hand (tips of the fingers are broken off, showing clean white bisque underneath). The right hand and fingers are fully intact and beautifully sculpted.
The 140+ year-old kid leather body is remarkably clean, structurally sound, and securely holds its original stuffing with only minor expected age wear.
