A rare survivor:A wonderful repoussé coffeepot,Victorian Rococo Revival era,circa 1850-60.
Canfield Brothers & Company, Baltimore• Features an all-overgrape-and-vine motif: the grape clusters on the body are pushed out in high-relief repoussé and the leaves and vines are meticulously chased (and perhaps engraved). The lavish decoration indicates this was a top-of-the-line luxury piece.
• Beautiful cast silver handle, spoutand finial withexuberant, sculptural grapes, vines and leaves.• Hallmarked as shown\"Canfield Bro. & Co. Balto\"• This pot weighs in at an impressive 1050 grams based on my home scale and hasa silver melt value of over $1,860 as of 9/28/2026.Overall nice condition:• Remarkably, no dents except for one minor pin-prick on the underside of the belly that is not noticeable• Most likely, a monogram was removed at some point, but not recently as the area where it would have occurred is patinated. See photo with circled area and note the vines are softened, indicating the site of a monogram removal. Otherwise, there are no other signs of disturbance.• The base is slightly off as there is a bit of a wobble, not alarming.• +/- 11\" in height
