Up for sale/sale is a wonderful, highly collectible antique novelty figural inkwell shaped like a seated frog or toad smoking a pipe. This whimsical piece dates back to the late 19th or early 20th century and makes an exceptional addition to any antique desk collection, library, or brass/bronze animal figurine display.

* Design: Whimsical Art Nouveau / Victorian novelty styling featuring a textured frog holding a smoking pipe. The frog's upper jaw/head is hinged at the back and flips upward to access the ink reservoir.
* Markings: Clearly stamped with the catalog/mold number 613 on the flat base.
* Removable Glass Insert: Includes the original clear glass ink cup liner, which is intact and easily slides out for cleaning.
* Material: Heavy cast mixed-metal / pot metal with a gorgeous, dark aged bronze-like patina finish.
* Dimensions: Stands approximately 2.25" Tall x 2.5" Wide (approx. 2.75" deep including the rear hinge).
Condition Description:
This piece is in excellent antique condition given its age. The cast metal body shows a rich, authentic aged patina with minor surface wear consistent with age. The hinge is sturdy and opens/closes smoothly. The inner clear glass reservoir is entirely intact with no major cracks or chips. There is a small venting hole built directly into the casting on the bottom.
