This elaborate American Victorian silverplate napkin ring features a seated winged cherub or putti riding atop the napkin ring with a swan beside it. The cherub holds a twisted wire rein that extends to the swan, creating an unusually detailed figural scene.
The rectangular base is raised on four ball feet. Engraved decoration accents the base, while the swan and cherub are rendered with detailed feathers, wings, facial features and clothing.
The underside is clearly marked:

The original figural design should have two wire reins extending from the swan to the cherub\'s hand. One rein remains present but is detached/broken away from the cherub\'s hand. The second rein is missing. Please see close-up photographs of this area.
