-Clear, substantially thick and heavy (26.1 ounces), deeply molded, 3 dimensional body with swirling glass spirals. -Ornate, melon-ribbed, brass dome lid. -Intact, brass collar. -Robust, 3 knuckle brass hinge, constructed to support, flush-fit, and tightly-align heavy cap. -Complementary design: -vertical, ribbed dome pattern mimics the twisted swirl glass motif below. -Base: -Scalloped, rounded corners and 24 point, sunburst/starburst pattern molded into glass and radiating from center.-Flaw: -Hard-to-see chip under collar (See last photo for closeup).
Condition: All original and in very good condition with high quality, exceptional light refraction, seamlessly finished borders, and no internal or external structural cracks or damage - an elegant Victorian, excellent quality desk accessory, circa 1890-1910.Due to weight, item will be packaged in a box-within-a-box to ensure safe shipment.
