Up for sale is a remarkably well-documented original Real Photo Postcard (RPPC) dating to the circa 1910–1914 Edwardian era, featuring fantastic local Ohio photography studio provenance.
The front of the postcard displays a dapper young gentleman formally posed next to an alert, smooth-coated Terrier dog—strongly resembling a purebred Jack Russell Terrier or Smooth Fox Terrier. The dog is positioned in a place of honor atop a high decorative pedestal table draped in a fringed fabric accent cloth. The young man stands proudly wearing a classic period summer suit, a neat necktie, and an authentic stiff straw boater hat.
The reverse side delivers outstanding historical data for collectors:
- Studio Backstamp: Faint but clearly legible embossed ink stamp reading: "THE EMPIRE GALLERY, 210 S. MARKET ST., CANTON, OHIO."
- Stamp Box: Classic Kodak "AZO" stamp box with all four triangles pointing UP (▲▲▲▲), precisely dating the production of this real photo paper to the 1904–1918 timeframe.
