Produced by the renowned Edwin Bennett Pottery Co. of Baltimore, Maryland, this ironstone syrup pitcher is masterfully styled in the traditional form of a lidded German beer stein. This piece features the highly desirable, first-year 1873 patent stamp on the base.Features & Details:
- Pattern: Molded high-relief "Dogwood" botanical motif (also known to collectors as "Wild Rose" or "Flower Spray"). Features vibrant, hand-painted pink and white blossoms on a branching stem accented by multi-toned green and yellow leaves.
- Lid: Retains its original original Victorian pewter flip-top lid, complete with the original hinge mechanism and decorative thumb lever.
- Maker's Mark: The unglazed base displays a clean, readable circular stamp stating: "BENNETT'S / JAN. 28, 1873 / PATENT."Condition:
The piece is in excellent antique condition with no chips, cracks, structural damage, or restorations. The cream-white ironstone body exhibits a gorgeous, beautifully uniform glaze crazing consistent with its authentic 150+ year age.
