Antique 1869 First Edition China & Chinese Nevius Bible Missionary Leather USA For Sale

was an American missionary in China, and was involved with numerous Bible translation projects, including the Delegates\' Version, Peking Version, and then later the famous Union Versions (i.e. in Mandarin, literary Chinese and classical Chinese).

Original 1869 edition (first edition). Absolutely gorgeous. I had it professionally rebound and restored in 1995. Believe it or not, I paid almost $200 (not including tax) back in 1995 just to have it re-rebound, restored, and all pages neutralized (i.e. acid on paper had been removed/neutralized).

Paper were neutralized by a conservationist, using quality alkaline reserve to prevent further foxing.

It has a pull-out map, and illustrations throughout.

There are some light foxing throughout, because it was printed on acidic paper, and the paper is old. As noted, paper were neutralized by a conservationist, using quality alkaline reserve to prevent further foxing.

The pull-out map has 2 small rips, each about 1 centimeter long, and foxing as shown. Apart from foxing, text is clean and free from writing or marking.

Ideal for a present. One of a kind after its make-over (i.e. professionally restored and rebound, and all pages neutralized from its acid content which caused foxing). You will not find another copy in this shape and condition anywhere in the world. This copy will certainly last at least another life time.
