Very unusual early iron wall-mounted coat and hat rack marked A.J. WALKER, NEW YORK, PATENTED, Mar 1? 22, 1864.The complete patent inscription is partially obscured by heavy age-related oxidation, but the maker/location and 1864 date remain visible. Close-up photographs of the markings are included so buyers can examine them for themselves.Features a long iron bar with multiple individually formed hooks, including large double hooks at each end, along with integrated wall-mounting points.The rack retains a wonderful naturally aged surface with extensive rust, oxidation and dark patina. It has not been restored or refinished.Condition: Antique condition with substantial surface rust, oxidation, pitting, discoloration and general wear from age. Some stamped lettering is difficult to read. Please examine all photographs carefully for exact condition and construction.A very interesting piece of early American hardware suitable for an antique hardware collection, historic home, primitive/farmhouse décor, general store display or industrial décor.
