Antique (1838) Signed Tricolor 19th Century American Jacquard Woven Coverlet by Andrew Kump - Hanover, Pennsylvania. Served as a decorative and heavy Bed cover. This is a figured and fancy Jacquard weave. Complex, curvilinear Rose blocks alternating with stylized stars/snowflake medallions were made possible by the Jacquard loom attachment introduced to American weavers in the 1820s. The Jacquard Coverlet was found in as-is condition in Pennsylvania. Distress and discoloration throughout. Fringe is not fully intact. Staining and loss throughout. One hole. One area patched.
