This is an Antique 1830s FREE BLOWN WHALE OIL LAMP with a Rough Pontil and ground smooth base.
Its open pontil mark on the bottom is a fantastic indicator of age, confirming that the glass vessel was free-blown or blown into a mold and broken off the iron pontil rod. While the surrounding area has been ground smooth so it will sit flat.
This is Fitted with a brass collar that has lost the plaster that held it on. 4" H to top of font, 3.5" D base.
