This Columbian Edition is revised and enlarged and contains over three hundred engravings, including portraits and historical scenes throughout the text. The book is attractively bound in a quarter leather binding with a gilt-decorated leather spine, leather corner tips, textured brown boards, and marbled endpapers, making it an impressive display piece for collectors of Americana and Victorian-era books.
The binding is sound, and the text block remains intact. The leather spine retains bright gilt lettering and decoration but shows significant wear, including rubbing, scuffing, and loss of leather at the head and tail of the spine. The leather corner tips and board edges also show noticeable wear and rubbing. The pages are clean overall with expected age toning, and the book contains numerous engraved illustrations throughout. No writing, underlining, or ownership markings are visible in the photographs.
