Ideal gift for special occassions or a great item for painting collectors. Difficult to photograph, due to the reflections.In a oval shape, insert in a repoussed brass & spine frame (spine is the natural material), in good conditions for the long time passed. Tiny wear, usual in the brass / natural frames.Received by inheritance. No original packaging. Up for sale is a beautiful antique European miniature portrait painting depicting Helene Sedlmayr (1813–1898), celebrated historically as the epitome of Munich beauty and a prominent figure in King Ludwig I’s famous \"Gallery of Beauties\" (Schönheitengalerie) at Nymphenburg Palace.
The subject is exquisitely detailed, showcasing her traditional old Munich attire (Altmünchner Gwand) featuring a vivid blue lace-up bodice, a soft pink shoulder shawl, and an intricate silver lace cap. The painting includes the historical signature \"n. Stieler\" on the right edge, indicating it was expertly executed \"after\" or based on the original court masterpiece by Joseph Karl Stieler.
THE FRAME:The miniature is housed in its magnificent, highly decorative oval Biedermeier/Louis XVI style frame. It features a segment-paneled border crafted from natural polished material, adorned with delicate incised floral or botanical engravings filled with dark pigment. The inner and outer rims are bordered by embossed filigree brass or bronze casing. The top of the frame features a formal pierced ribbon bow finial.
REVERSE & DETAILS:The back retains its original period presentation, covered with a clean reddish-tan protective backing and a sturdy, dual-legged brass wire easel stand that holds the piece securely on a tabletop or desk. An antique typed collector\'s or inventory label is attached reading: \"Helena Sedlmeier (Stieler)\".

CONDITION:Good antique condition overall. The portrait displays rich colors and exceptionally fine brushwork under the protective glass. The brass details show a lovely, authentic age-appropriate golden patina. The paneled frame is intact with beautifully preserved hand-etched linework. The easel stand remains solid and fully functional. A premier acquisition for collectors of Biedermeier court memorabilia and classical European portrait miniatures.

Antique or vintage items are sold in their original condition, as found, except for a superficial dusting. Items may have stains or variations in paint tone or material condition, which are inherent to their age and are preserved to maintain their antique character. We do not perform polishing or restoration ourselves; we wish to maintain the originality. However, after purchase, if you wish to have these services done, it will be entirely at your discretion.
Shipments are made with appropriate and sufficient protection. Large, heavy, or fragile items are meticulously packed with professional materials, using bubble wrap, double-layered envelopes/cardboard, and a sturdy box to ensure safe transport.
Note: The measurements are approximate and should be considered with reasonable tolerance for the objects, even more so if they are small (+/- 5 to 10%).
IMPORTANT: I offer combined shipping. Many of my items have free shipping if send together, and for the rest, shipping will be 50% or less of the cost indicated for each item if shipped together (large items are send individually only).
