40\" sword,..41 3/4\" Long with steel scabbardAged reproduction of an 1850 Confederate officer’s sword, styled after the military sabers carried during the American Civil War period, circa 1861–1865. Swords of this general form were associated with officers and cavalry-style military dress, with brass guards, wrapped grips, and steel scabbards becoming familiar features of mid-19th century military sidearms.
This example features a brass-tone hilt with decorative guard, leather-wrapped grip, carbon steel blade, and steel scabbard. The finish has been aged to give the sword the appearance of a long-preserved field or display piece.
Officers’ swords from the Civil War era were both functional sidearms and symbols of rank. Reproduction examples like this are commonly used today for historical display, reenactment décor, military collections, or Civil War-themed interiors.
