The Y-30128-AF35 is a bimetal-actuated thermal gas safety valve. When the oven calls for heat, the oven control board energizes a glow-bar igniter mounted near the valve. As the igniter heats up, a temperature-sensitive bimetal strip inside the valve warms and bends, mechanically lifting the valve plunger off its seat. Only then does gas flow to the bake (or broil) burner orifice for ignition by the same igniter.
