For sale is an exceptional matched pair of RCA Radiotron 2A3 NOS Grey Plate directly heated power triodes. These are original vintage American RCA valves with the characteristic grey-plate dual-plate construction and classic black RCA Radiotron bases with orange markings.
The RCA 2A3 is one of the most historically important directly heated audio power triodes. Original RCA examples remain especially appreciated by collectors and enthusiasts of vintage single-ended and push-pull tube amplification.
This pair has been professionally tested on a Metrix U61B valve analyser and independently checked on an Elettrocostruzioni Chinaglia CD/P6. Both valves show exceptionally strong electrical results.
The two valves are individually identified as B2A3014 and B2A3015.

At the standard test point used, the reference plate current is 60.0 mA. B2A3014 measures 67.0 mA and B2A3015 measures 68.0 mA, corresponding respectively to 112% and 113% of the reference value.

Both valves retain the characteristic RCA Radiotron Electron Tube orange markings on their black bases. Internally they feature the classic grey-plate dual-plate structure associated with vintage RCA 2A3 production.
The large ST glass envelopes, UX4 four-pin bases and directly heated filament construction represent the traditional architecture of the historic 2A3 power triode. The two valves also show closely corresponding internal construction, making them particularly suitable as a matched audio pair.

The measured plate-current difference between the two valves is only 1.0 mA. Using the lower/higher current ratio, the resulting plate-current matching is approximately 98.5%.
Measured transconductance is 5.50 mA/V for B2A3014 and 5.25 mA/V for B2A3015. Plate-current matching and transconductance are reported separately because they represent different electrical parameters.

Both valves were also independently checked on an Elettrocostruzioni Chinaglia CD/P6. The instrument indicated 100% efficiency for B2A3014 and 100% for B2A3015, providing a second independent confirmation of their excellent condition and strong emission.
2A3 family and equivalents
The standard 2A3 is a directly heated power triode with a 2.5 V filament and UX4 four-pin base. It is also associated with the U.S. military designation VT-95 and British service designation CV1831.
Before replacing any valve in an amplifier, always verify the circuit\'s filament voltage, socket wiring, bias conditions and operating limits. Types such as 300B, 6A3 and type 45 should not automatically be considered plug-and-play replacements for a standard 2A3.

Prima della sostituzione in un amplificatore è sempre necessario verificare alimentazione del filamento, piedinatura, polarizzazione e limiti del circuito. 300B, 6A3 e tipo 45 non devono essere considerate automaticamente sostitute plug-and-play della 2A3.
