Absolutely beautiful late 1920s to early 1930s handmade cotton dress. Made from a lightweight ivory cotton muslin with a subtle woven stripe, possibly early feed or flour sack fabric. It has the sweetest oversized ruffled cape collar trimmed in delicate crochet lace, matching lace at the sleeves and an inset lace panel at the neckline.
Finished with two incredible oversized carved celluloid or early plastic buttons at the front and a row of tiny buttons at the back neck. Loose straight silhouette with a small inverted pleat at the lower front for movement. Side buttons as well.
Clearly handmade and nearly 100 years old, with all of the beautiful little construction details you want to see in an early piece. Romantic, slightly primitive and incredibly special. Overall in good vintage condition considering age - there is some minor seam stress and a few small marks. One of the side buttons is cracked and one of the buttons on the front has been glued - there is a hairline crack in it.
