Issued as part of the Paris Mint’s highly touted “Road To Liberty” honoring the historic Comitia Americana medals, the 2026 Libertas Americana revives Benjamin Franklin’s vision through some of the world’s most advanced minting technology. Using a meticulous process called Reverse Tooling, the Monnaie de Paris (Paris Mint) artisans used from of the original 1782 medal, restoring details born directly from the age of the revolution itself. The result gives collectors an experience remarkably close to holding a living piece of the founding era.
Yet this release is far more than a reproduction. Paris Mint Chief Engraver, Joaquin Jimenez (see signature on label) created an entirely new obverse design that bridges past and present. Lady Liberty and Minerva stand side-by-by-side, united in strength and purpose as they raise the Light of Liberty together. Classic symbolism blends seamlessly with modern artistry, creating imagery that feels timeless while honoring the enduring friendship between France and America.
