Duckweed Care Guide💧 Water Conditions

• Temperature: 60–86°F (15–30°C)

  • Grows fastest around 70–82°F

• pH: 6.0–8.0 (very tolerant)

• Hardness: Soft to hard water is fine

💡 Lighting

• Medium to high light = rapid growth

• Low light = slower spread (still survives)

• 8–12 hours/day is ideal
  ⚠️ Too much light + nutrients = explosive growth

🌱 Nutrients

Duckweed feeds directly from the water:

• Loves nitrates, phosphates, ammonia

• Thrives in:

  • Fish tanks

  • Shrimp tanks

  • Fry grow-out tanks

  • Overstocked systems

If growth is slow:

• Add liquid fertilizer (very small amount)

• Or increase bioload slightly

🌊 Water Flow (Important)

• Duckweed hates strong surface agitation

• Best in:

  • Sponge filters

  • Low-flow HOB

• High flow causes:

  • Yellowing

  • Holes

  • Tip: Use airline tubing rings to create calm zones.
