Why is this the price it is? Read on and I\'ll tell you. Firstly I have marked it \"New\" simply because it IS - it has never been \"used\"In 1963, living in South East London where I was born, \"Z Cars\" was my favorite TV program (Image 3) - half the country thought likewise. It had started the previous year in which the Zephyr Mark II made its debut in the show. (Thirteen years later, living in Australia then, I bought a showroom condition 1961 Mark !! for $275 - I drove it for three years with nary a problem. You can see it in the very last image) So, back to 1963, I was seventeen, \"Z Cars\" was riding atop the ratings (Image 3) and Lesney released No 33 of their 75 series. A ten minute walk to the shops and I owned the very model you see above. It lived in a large oak display cabinet that I had in those days. For the rest of my time in the UK it never moved from that cabinet. No-one but me ever touched it.
The following forty-three years were spent in Australia in many different homes. In 1976 I was living in Sydney\'s Blue Mountains (European climate, snow and expat Europeans) and bought another solid wood glass cabinet. The car made it\'s home there for the next thirty years (Image 9) when I moved to the US in 2006. It was during the shipping of all our possessions from Sydney toNebraska that the inevitable (after more than twenty moves from house to house on three Continents) occurred. Our packing cases having clearly been opened and rifled through by Customs officers had somehow caused one of the small inner flaps of the Zephyr\'s box to detach itself and fall off.....the piece wasn\'t even there any more. You can clearly see the remaining flaps are firm. Since the box had been ultimately MINT also, this was extremely annoying.(Image 9), The only observation I can make is that it does not affect in the least, the box\'s presentation. as the large end flaps fit tight and nothing is visible as they are always closed. The remainder of the box is completely MINT still.(Image 12)
Since 2014 the Zephyr III has been resident in the smaller display case visible in the second to last image. The car looks as it does (brand new) because it has been untouched for basically sixty three years. No child has ever come near it. A true one-owner car!
