COVENANTS WITH DEATH

A first edition of \'Covenants with Death...\', published by the Daily Express in London, 1934. The purpose of the publication was to reveal the horrors of war, each page with upsetting photographs of the time to shock the World. With the 15 page section at the end of the book, unsealed, with the warning that they are \'inescapably horrible\' along with \'Highly strung and sensitive persons may wish to pass them over. And they should not be put in the hands of children.\'
4to, bound in black cloth with red lettering and decoration to upper board, lettered to spine. Original plain endpapers. Collation: [96]. Measuring approx 22cm by 28.5cm.
Condition: The binding is holding firmly, cloth grubby and marked, extremities abraded, splitting to spine ends. Contents are holding firmly and in good order, hinges cracked to pastedowns, toned and with the odd mark, one page torn to margin with minor loss, spotted to endpapers.
