1931 U.S. Scott C16 – 5¢ Winged Globe Airmail Plate Block #20606Offered is an original United States Scott C16 5-cent Winged Globe Airmail plate block of four, printed in violet by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing.This example retains its original plate-number selvage and displays Plate No. 20606.The block comes from an older organized stamp collection and was cataloged as Unused, Original Gum and NH (Never Hinged). The collector/dealer also specifically noted “separations,” which are visible in the perforations. Please review the close-up photographs carefully.A little history: The C16 was issued in 1931 during an important period in the development of U.S. airmail. It features the classic Winged Globe design with “U.S. Air Mail” at its center. C16 was produced by the rotary press process, replacing the earlier flat-plate version of the Winged Globe design.
