Fabulous Pre-Eagle Hallmark Vintage Hecho En Mexican D.F. (Mexico City Assay) 925 Sterling Silver Art Deco 1930\'s Repousse Necklace and Matching Bracelet Set. These are stunning examples of Old World ArtDeco Modernist Design and both necklace and matching bracelet are hallmarked Hecho En Mexico D.F.[MexicoCity Assay] 0925, VGV[Artist}. Art Decojewelry is generally considered a prominent and influential expression ofmodernism in the 1920s and 1930s.It reflects a departure from the flowing curves and naturalistic themes ofprevious eras, embracing geometric forms, streamlined designs, and a focus onnew materials and techniques. These piecesare no exception and I could not in the space given even begin to brag on howfabulous these treasures are. This Pre-Eagle Hallmark necklace with matchingbracelet was produced in the latter 1930s (Art Deco Era) executed in a puffy fan/wingtype paneled Repousse with security snap-in clasps with an additional securitychain on the marvelous bracelet. Thenecklace measures 16 inches clasped in length, and each of the 13 repousse panelsmeasure 1 1/8”W x 1 inch high each, atwidest point. This gorgeous necklace has a secure snap in clasp closure. Theweight is 48.2 grams. The necklace is marked as follows: Hecho in Mexico D.F (MexicoCity/City of Assay; VGV (Artist); .0925 (Sterling Silver Purity). The repoussehas great depth and dimension and at many points is 4-5mm. puffy. There are no dings noted. The matching gorgeous7 paneled bracelet has a Wrist Size of 8.25” snap in clasp with security chain;the bracelet is marked as follows: Hecho in Mexico D.F (Mexico City/City ofAssay; ( VGV (Artist); .0925 (Sterling Silver Purity). 8.25”L x 1”H x 1”W atwidest points. Weight 28.8gr. The repousse has great depth and dimension and atmany points is 4-5mm. puffy. Crafted inMexico City (D.F) during the deco era, this Necklace and Bracelet set showcasesthe intricate craftsmanship and attention to detail characteristic of vintageMexican jewelry. Perfect for adding a touch of old-world charm to any outfit,these are timeless pieces that can be worn for years to come. The hallmarks on this set are early pre-eagle.When one speaks of \"pre-eagle\" one is referring to silver items madebefore 1948. The eagle stamp was introduced in the 1940s and used throughoutMexico by 1948. It indicated that the purity of the silver was at least 925(92.5% silver) which is the sterling standard. The Letters D.F. indicates the Cityof Assay (Mexico City) and VGV was the individual silversmith who created thesebeautiful pieces. .0925 indicates sterling silver metal purity. Thus the periodbefore 1948 is called the \"pre-eagle\" period. The eagle registration stamp was replaced byregistration number stamps about 1980.
