The obverse features the engraved portrait of Michael Hillegas, surrounded by the highly detailed ornamental engraving characteristic of large-size United States currency of this era. The reverse features the elaborate orange-gold engraved design, including the central eagle motif and ornate denomination panels.
Condition
Based on careful examination of all of the photographs, I would conservatively describe this note as approximately Extra Fine/Fine (XF/F), with the possibility of being toward the upper end of Fine depending upon individual grading standards. Collector assessed.
The paper displays the natural aging and patina expected of a piece of currency that is more than a century old. The intricate engraved designs remain remarkably well preserved and clearly visible, including the detailed portrait of Michael Hillegas, ornate borders, Treasury seal, serial numbers, and the elaborate orange-gold reverse.
There are NO handwritten markings on the note.
I do not see a major missing portion, large tear, or severe corner loss. The note appears complete and intact.
