A handsome collected edition of Tennyson’s poetry in full red morocco leather by Rivière & Son, identified by the binder’s stamp, “BOUND BY RIVIERE & SON.”
The binding features richly grained red leather, gilt rules and ornamental borders, decorative corner tools, and a spine divided into elaborately gilt compartments with a contrasting dark title label and raised bands. Gilt-tooled board edges, wide gilt turn-ins, marbled endpapers, and gilt page edges complete the binding.
A substantial Oxford edition combining many of Tennyson’s best-known poems with an introduction, chronology, supplementary poems, and indexes. Includes a tissue-guarded portrait frontispiece.

Condition
Very good overall. Binding sound and attractive, retaining bright gilt decoration. Spine somewhat darkened, with rubbing and light wear to the spine ends, joints, and corners. Boards show small scratches, abrasions, and areas of darker discoloration; a small worn area is present near the upper rear edge.
Title label remains complete. Gilt page edges, marbled endpapers, and gilt turn-ins are well preserved. Interior generally clean, with light age-toning and occasional minor spotting.
