1910 Czechoslovakia Charity Poster Stamp 4 Heller Archduchess Maria-Josepha In A Portrait For Alland Sanatorium Unused Hinge Mark 90% Original Gum
Sanatorium Alland is a sanatorium in the Weinerwald that was visited by Vienna patients in 1909. Sanatoriums were historic hospitals that treated specific diseases, related ailments, and convalescence. They were often located in the countryside and had a healthy climate. The word "sanatorium" comes from the Latin word sānāre, which means "to heal, make healthy". Archduchess Maria Josepha of Austria was the twelfth child and ninth daughter of Francis I, Holy Roman Emperor, and Empress Maria Theresa. She was engaged to King Ferdinand IV of Naples and Sicily, but the marriage never materialised due to Maria Josepha's death due to smallpox.

This Elaborate Philatelic Poster Stamp Depicts Archduchess Maria Josepha Of Austria, A Member Of The Habsburg Dynasty, In A Stylized Portrait Format Surrounded By Ornate Art Nouveau Bordering. The Archduchess Is Rendered In Rich Rose Tones With Intricate Detailing On Her Crown, Necklace, And Regal Attire, All Set Within An Oval Frame. The Surrounding Design, Printed In Olive-Brown, Features Symmetrical Floral And Wheel Motifs That Are Characteristic Of Early 20th-Century Austrian Graphic Design. The Top Reads “Heilanstalt Alland,” Referring To A Sanatorium Or Health Institution Located In Alland, A Small Town In Lower Austria. This Suggests The Stamp Was Produced As A Charity Or Fundraising Label For The Institution, Possibly In Support Of Health Or Rehabilitation Services. The Denomination “4” Appears In Each Lower Corner, Though It Is Symbolic Rather Than Monetary In Function. The Names “Jos. Urban” And “F. Schirnböck” Appear At The Bottom, Indicating The Designers Or Engravers, Both Of Whom Were Renowned In Austrian Artistic and printing circles during the early 1900s. The Poster Stamp Reflects The Austro-Hungarian Imperial Aesthetic And Likely Dates To The Period Between 1908 And 1916. Visible Text (Rewritten In Sentence Form): German: Heilanstalt Alland. Erzherzogin Maria Josepha. — English Translation: Sanatorium Alland. Archduchess Maria Josepha. Country Of Origin: Austria Year Of Issue: Most Likely Between 1908 And 1916

Thanks So Much For Stopping By! Most Of The Poster Stamps And Cinderellas I Offer Are Truly Old Historic Treasures! Many Are Close To 100 Years Old Or More. Because Of Their Age, You Might Notice A Few Minor Imperfections Here And There. They're Full Of History And Character, But They Most Definitely Aren't Post Office Fresh. That's Especially True For Cinderella And Poster Stamps, So Please Take A Good Look At The Scans Because They're An Important Part Of The Description. Also, Please Note That The Backs Of Poster Stamps Are Typically Considered Much Less Important Than The Fronts, And Descriptions Can Be A Bit Subjective. If The Condition Of The Back Is Important To You, Just Reach Out. I Am Happy To Provide More Details Or Additional Scans.

I Do My Best To Describe Everything Honestly And Accurately, And To The Best Of My Ability, I Guarantee That All Items Are Genuine (Unless Otherwise Noted). I'm Not A Philatelic Expert, Just A Passionate Collector And Seller Who Cares About Getting It Right. Occasionally A Mistake Might Slip Through, But If An Item Turns Out To Be Fundamentally Not As Described, I'll Make It Right With A Refund.

Please Feel Free To Reach Out With Any Questions Or If You'd Like To See More Photos. I'm Always Happy To Help Before You Buy.
