A complete early 20th-century edition of J. M. W. Turner’s celebratedLiber Studiorum, published by George Newnes Limited, London, and Charles Scribner’s Sons, New York, in 1904.
Turner conceivedLiber Studiorumas a major exploration of the possibilities of landscape art. The original series was produced during the early 19th century and includes pastoral, marine, mountainous, architectural, historical and other landscape subjects.
This handsome large-format edition reproduces the complete published series in rich sepia tones.

The sepia reproductions remain remarkably attractive, particularly considering the book\'s age. The tissue guards identify the individual plates and add considerably to the completeness and desirability of this copy.
The exterior shows substantial wear, particularly to the spine, but theinterior is considerably better preserved than the binding. This would make an appealing copy for a collector of Turner, British art, landscape art, printmaking, or early illustrated art books.
