Good + overall. An oversized hardcover with a sound, square binding and an unmarked interior. The blue cloth covers show moderate rubbing and shelf wear, with more pronounced fraying and small losses at the spine ends, particularly the head. The gilt lettering and decoration remain attractive, although the mounted portrait on the front cover has areas of surface loss. The front endpapers appear to have been reinforced. Pages are clean and well preserved, with light age toning and occasional minor spotting.
A substantial, richly illustrated volume featuring dozens of black-and-white full-page plates depicting Queen Victoria, members of the royal family, important events of her reign, royal residences, and ceremonial occasions. The blue cloth binding features large gilt lettering and a mounted portrait of the young Queen Victoria framed in gilt. Additional illustrations include Victoria’s family tree, views of Windsor Castle, scenes from her funeral procession, and portraits of King Edward VII and other members of the royal family. The book also incorporates Victoria’s own More Leaves from the Journal of a Life in the Highlands.
