Godey’s Lady’s Book was one of the most influential American women’s magazines of the 19th century and is especially collected today for its fashion plates, needlework, literature, and record of Victorian domestic life.
Condition: The original cover/binding is fully detached from the text block, as shown in the photos. The boards and spine remain together as one separate piece and show substantial rubbing, edge wear, and age-related wear. The main text block is otherwise largely still bound together. At the rear, a small group of pages has come loose as a section, but the remainder of the pages are still bound. Interior pages are generally quite clean for age, with expected toning, scattered foxing, stains, edge wear, and occasional small tears.
All 12 monthly fashion plates are present and retain lovely color.
