1851/0 Go PF PCGS AU58 Mexico 8 Reales, Guanajuato, Rainbow Tone, RARE Overdate!
Stunning and rare example of an early Guanajuato Mint Cap and Rays 8 Reales from the First Republic of Mexico with a very rare overdate from when the working die was re-cut to adjust for digits between years.
The obverse features wonderful deep rainbow toning with teals, magentas and sky blues. The reverse is very lustrous with a strong golden tone; little to no wear evident with the center dot from the dies still present on the eagles present.
The coin is UNC and is not worn; the strike from the well used dies has reduced some the legend details on the obverse resulting in the AU58 grade.
This particular overdate is very scarce as described below by Mike Dunigan in the Resplandoresreference: \"\"
PCGS population total of 2, this example and 1 example higher; compared to a population of 9 in the regular 1851-Go.NGC population total of 5, one in AU58 and 1 example higher; compared to a population of 29 in the regular 1851-Go.
The overdate is about 4-5 times scarcer than an already desirable piece.
