The Iron Bank was organized in 1847 and remained in business until becoming the National Iron Bank of Falls Village in 1865.
The bank which is still in business to the present day. This attractive $5 features a vignette of a herd of mixed livestock being driven toward a covered bridge with a town in the distance. The vignette on the left depicts a iron worker forming an iron billet while a portrait of Franklin is at right. A small vignette of what appears to be the bank's first office is at bottom center.
