1740s Antique French Sermon Book Secret Safe Hollow Book Leather 18th Century
Antique mid-18th century French religious book, dating approximately 1742–1746, later converted into a hidden book safe. A wonderful early example with tremendous character, retaining its original leather binding, raised spine bands, gilt decorative tooling, and period printed pages.
The interior has been carefully hollowed out to create a concealed compartment. What makes this especially attractive is the original-style marbled paper lining inside the hidden compartment, beautifully complementing the age and character of the book.
