This is a nice exampleof an Exemplification of Recovery document from the reign of Charles 2nd.
Pendant Great Seal(some loss but largely complete).
Dated 17 June in thenineteenth year of the reign of King Charles 2nd.
I have dated it to 1679as this is the latest it can be. However, it could be earlier (1668) as thereign of Charles 2nd was often counted as beginning in 1649.
Beautiful calligraphichandwriting.
I cannot read thedocument.
Helpfully, there is asmall handwritten English addition on the reverse: “Exemplification of thehouse at Dorchester.”
CONDITION. Contentscomplete. One small hole to lower left margin - contents not affected.Otherwise no holes or tears. Old fold lines. Slight creasing to lower rightmargin. Ink generally clear and free of fading. Good clean condition for adocument of this age and type. Top part of the seal lacking.
